About us

The Leipzig Early Music Academy is dedicated to historically informed performance in the context of Leipzig’s central role in European music history. The focus lies on repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries, with particular attention to the musical environment of Johann Sebastian Bach and its wider traditions.

Leipzig offers a unique historical framework: the repertory associated with Johann Sebastian Bach, his predecessors and successors, as well as the broader central German tradition, forms a core reference point. This context provides a concrete basis for exploring stylistic questions across the transition from early Baroque to early Classical repertoire.
